Corrugated Tin Ceilings – Fashionable with Old World Charm

The ceiling is often one of the first things that a person would notice when they enter your house, or any place for that matter. Although not exactly at an eye-level, the ceiling stretching above is not hard to notice, which is why a lot of homeowners put extra effort to make their ceiling not just presentable but beautiful as well.

There are a lot of ways to make to your ceiling stand out. You can use a contrasting color for it, and you can also use a light with a warm glow hidden at the folds of your moldings to add more character to a room. Another way to make your room stand out is to have a corrugated tin ceiling. Using these tiles appropriately onyour ceiling is a great way to add old world charm and uniqueness  to your room.

Installing a corrugated tin ceiling is relatively simple and it is inexpensive. You just have to follow these steps, and you’ll have a beautiful tin ceiling installed in about a weekend.

How to Install Corrugated Tin Ceilings:

The first thing that you would need is determine the type of material that your ceiling beams are made of. This is very important as this is where you will be attaching your tin ceiling. The ceiling beams should be strong enough to hold the tin, to prevent any accidents.

You would then need to measure the square footage of your ceiling. This is determined by multiplying the width and length of an area. Let’s say you have 13x10 square feet of ceiling, then that means you have 130 square feet of area to cover.  Having the correct measurements helps you determine how much material that you would need, and would also help you save by not buying too much material.

The next thing that you need to do is to plan the installation. Place the corrugated tin panels on the ceiling, and check if it is the correct size. Also make note of fixtures so you know where you would need to put holes on your tin for them. Remember that you have to cut the holes while you are safely on the ground, and not while you have the tin on the ceiling.

Then comes the cutting of the holes. You can use a drill to make a hole on the ceiling, and slowly cut the appropriate shape for the fixtures. Remember to do this carefully, as the tin might cut your skin.  We recommend wearing thick workmans’ gloves when handling the tin panels to ensure your safety.

You would then need to install the corrugated tin into the ceiling. Drill the screws into the tin then onto your ceiling beams, and do so every about twelve inches.

Make sure that your corrugated tin ceiling has been properly screwed into the beams, and you’re done! You now have a stylish and beautiful ceiling.
