Before purchasing the carpet, make sure to shop around online to get some ideas on price.  Be sure to have the exact dimensions of the area you would like to carpet before getting price quotes and make sure to get a piece a little bit bigger for safe measure.

My own Experience with Carpet Remnants

Personally, I went to my local carpet retailer and asked to see their warehouse area.  The manager gladly escorted me into the back and showed me the available carpet remnants that I could choose from.  I ended up saving about $500 vs. having brand new carpeting installed and the carpet remnant ended up being a better quality than I would have originally spent money on.   With a little initiative on our parts, using carpet remnants instead of regular carpeting is a great money saving tip that any of us can do.  Make sure to try it out next time you are in the market for replacing your original carpet with these carpet remnants
