Air Conditioning Maintenance
The world just seem to be getting hotter and hotter every day. You may not notice now this if you live in a place with a winter season, but you’ll definitely feel the heat of the sun come summer time. For those who live in warm weather all-year round, you know how important the AC is. It is the only thing that saves us from serious heat exhaustion or even deadly heat stroke. It has become such a necessity that for new homes being built, it is mandatory in every home.
The main problem with people with all this air conditioning is that we love using the AC, but we tend to not take care of it. Abandoning air conditioning maintenance does not only cost us a lot for repair, it would also cut the life of your AC several years short. Air conditioning maintenance is not a hard task to perform, and it is an extremely important one. If you want to keep your AC for a longer time, then you better start taking care of it immediately.
The first step in air conditioning maintenance is reading the manufacturer’s manual. This is a very important step. Even if you are not an expert, manuals offer great tips on how to take care of your AC. When you read the manual, you’d notice an air filter replacement recommendation by the manufacturer. This is an important thing to follow for the maintenance of your AC. You can use cheap air filters for the unit, but doing so may require you to replace it often. Some filters also need to be cleaned in specific schedules, so make sure to look in your manual for that. One common misconception among the public is that you would need to increase the AC’s thermostat should you leave the house. This is not true. Doing so would require your AC to work more, which could add to your electricity. The best way to go is to maintain the level of your thermostat whether you are at home or not.
The AC’s compressor is responsible for squeezing the cool, low-pressure gas which makes the AC produce cool air. Having dust and dirt on the compressor will mess up this process which would hinder your AC from producing the needed air to make your place cooler. We need to keep the compressor free from dust and dirt at all times, and you can actually use a water hose for this purpose. Should the time come that you would not use the AC for a long time, you can opt to cover the compressor with a cloth to make sure that dust and dirt will not be able to penetrate.
